We’ve walked past this place so many times till we lost count… there were a couple of times where we tried to dine here only to find that the place was full…
Not so bad today… we were here pretty early… and the place was rather empty… so we got ourselves a nice table at the corner ![]()
Lots of stuff in the menu …. spoilt for choice… the ala carte dishes weren’t cheap though… In the end, we settled for a set for 2 ($59)

The set came with some side dishes …. this one’s spinach …

Some bean sprouts….

Rice cakes….

Kimchi … this was pretty good … no akaline taste like some other places…

Garlic Chives ![]()

Potatoes….

Some bean sauce dip…

Ginseng Chicken Soup … this was huge! We were shocked at the size of this …
I thought they would’ve only given us half a chicken…. ![]()
Did I mention that the chicken was stuffed with glutinous rice as well? ![]()
Aly didn’t like this at all though… she complained that the ginseng taste and smell was overpowering ![]()

Beef bibimbap in stone pot …
Took a shot of it before it becomes “disgusting” ![]()

After mixing with hot pepper sauce ![]()

Really yummy… I don’t find it disgusting leh …. ![]()

Pork collar meat for the grill…

Chicken bits for the grill ….

Before!!!

After…. too charred?
Don’t ask why we didn’t put any in the middle ![]()

Free flow of veggies for wrapping the meats ![]()

Add garlic…. meat….

and for that extra kick, some hot pepper paste and kimchi as well…. wrap… and stuff in mouth!
AWESOME ![]()

Fruits that came at the end of the meal… Pretty tasteless …. ![]()

We managed to finish all the food except for some of the chicken soup as I had to deal with the whole bowl (and the rest of the food) since Aly didn’t like the strong ginseng….
Couldn’t walk after that …. I would say it was a pretty good deal…. I shudder to think how much food there would be for the set for 4 ![]()
Everything was okay to me…. Aly didn’t like the quality of the cabbages and the strong ginseng in the soup…
That’s about it… Total damage was $73.70 after service and tax and a can of Pepsi ($3) and 2 paper towels ($0.60 each)

Okay… I know many of you have told me that my home made bibimbap looked utterly disgusting … but that’s how it’s suppose to look ain’t it? It’s not called mixed rice for nothing ![]()
Oh well… it was pretty tasty!!! ![]()
Anyway here’s something less disgusting (minus the pic of my mashed potatoes lol )
This fast food chain has been around for quite some time at Terminal 1 Changi Airport.
They’ve recently opened up another 2 outlets, one at the Singapore Flyer and the other at Terminal 3 Changi Airport.
Picked Aly up from her trip back from KL and took the chance to have some fried chicken ![]()

The last time I ate this was with several years ago… and I can’t even recall who I had the meal with ![]()

The place isn’t very big but at least there isn’t a crowd… but then again… it’s 11+pm on a weekend… (and yes… I intend to fill my tummy up with unhealthy fried chicken at this hour
)

Chicken and Biscuits…. biscuits?!

There are 2 screens here broadcasting old Popeye cartoons … good for the kids… bad for the adults (we don’t need to be reminded of how old we truly are
)

Small packet of Strawberry jam … are the ones you get at Macs also by Heinz? Anyway the Mac ones taste way better …and are not as … erm… “jellyfied” as this one ![]()

You’re suppose to eat the jam with this! Buttermilk biscuit, served with every meal.
I barely ate this… it’s like a scone, not so much like a biscuit/cookie or muffin.
It was too hard and dry for my liking…

They were out of fries… and this I found out from the other cashier taking another dude’s order.
The one serving me didn’t inform me of it and automatically served me the mashed potato with cajun gravy.

Cajun gravy? It tastes just like chilli con carne…

2 pieces of chicken. I asked for anything but a chicken wing part as I always feel that it ain’t worth paying so much for just a small piece of chicken ![]()
So the girl said she’ll give me a thigh and drumstick…
She turned around…fussed around for awhile before turning back to inform me that she’s out of thighs and drumsticks … ![]()
She then asked if it was okay with me if she gave me a piece of breast and wing instead…
Like I had a choice? Those were the only pieces they had available …. grrrrr
I also realised that she didn’t ask if I had wanted mild or spicy …. (2 types of chicken served here similar to KFC’s crispy or original recipe)

So here’s my 2 piece meal… ($6.90) which I shared with Aly…
I’m not a big fan of chicken breast … but I don’t mind eating it either… guess I’ll have to make do.
Chicken itself… I assume what I was served were the spicy ones.
Tasted similar to the Spicy chicken at KFC, but less batter here… KFC Crispy chicken always scared me away with the large amount of batter (I’ve since been eating original recipe chicken from KFC for many years now as the spicy ones give me a bad time at the loo the next day - Hopefully the spicy ones here at Popeyes don’t have the same effect
)
Skin + Batter was really cripsy… and the whole chicken part isn’t as oily as those you get at KFC
Chicken breast meat itself was surprisingly not tough at all… in fact the meat was quite juicy apart from the texture of the meat of ‘cos, hope you get what I’m saying.
I should probably try their other stuff when I get the chance to… I don’t see myself going to the Singapore Flyer anytime soon (to see nothing but construction sites currently
) and I don’t go all the way to Changi Airport as often as I did (to chill at the coffee outlets)
So I guess chances would be limited…. especially when kitty doesn’t approve of fried chicken most of the time ![]()

Bored of the food at the coffeeshops and food centres near my place….
Didn’t know what to have for dinner ….
Bought some pig organ soup back….

Pig organ soup… lean meat… pork belly… pork balls… pig stomach … some veggies and tofu ….

Bought a packet of plain rice as well….

Bought this bottle of hot pepper paste with Aly few weeks ago… yet to try it out ![]()

Add drained pig organ soup ingredients to the rice

Add hot pepper paste

Mix it all up

Ta da!!! ahMao’s very own bibimbap ![]()
Hmm… this bottle of hot pepper paste I bought has vinegar in it… which explains why it’s a little sour…
It’s almost like a ketchup taste….

Took out the other pepper paste which I bought before this bottle…

This one has got a stronger bean taste to it and it doesn’t contain vinegar…

Add to mixed rice

Mix mixed rice again ![]()

and voila!!! The rice has got a darker color to it now…. and all I’m missing is an egg and more veggies ![]()
ahMao’s Pig Organ Bibimbap!!! ![]()
Can’t quite manage to get a similar taste to even those you get at food courts… I wonder what pepper paste they use…. ![]()
Oh well… this one tasted pretty alright with the mixture of the 2 different brands of pepper paste … and it least it wasn’t boring pig organ soup again ![]()
Was rather surprised that Aly suggested going to Brazil for dinner… I wonder why…
Why dear? To pacify me while you’re overseas is it? ![]()

Evian water! $5
or was it $6? ![]()

Chicken and mushroom soup …. how come there’s no french onion soup today? ![]()

Grabbed some stuff from the buffet counter…
Some mushrooms, ladies fingers, potatos, beef…. lamb… etc. The stew and ladies fingers were yummy ![]()

Aly took some spaghetti, beef…. long beans… coleslaw… etc.

We were also served some garlic bread… bread was lightly crisp and soft on the insides…. just nice for me as I don’t fancy too my bread being too crispy …. Garlic butter was …erm… nicely buttery buttered ![]()

We had just started on the stuff we got from the counter before the guys started to come out dishing out meat
….
Honey baked ham, pork sausages and erm … some other meat
No idea what it was… but it was pretty soft and tender…. ![]()

Beef …. tender…. good…. meat…. nice… ahMao like…. meat…. good… yummy… tender…. ![]()

Chicken drumstick… moist and juicy on the inside with a lightly crisp skin
I enjoyed this too ![]()

This was pretty bad …. some other cut of beef …. tough… and dry …

Pork ribs…. it was quite hard to get the meat off the bone … bits of it was pretty hard

Aly grabbed a bowl full of long beans for us to share…
See? We DO eat veggies Sharon! ![]()

Char siew…. mostly fats … I didn’t even taste this one…. as I couldn’t find a decent piece of meat beneath the fats ![]()

Roasted mushrooms!
She said just one of this beat all those she had at Mushroom Pot the other day ![]()

Garlic beef… pretty tough too…. ![]()

Last piece of meat for me …. no idea what this was also…. texture was like stewed pork… which obviously it wasn’t…. lamb? No freaking idea… I wish the folks who brought the meats to you and cut it up could open their mouths and actually speak … the bunch of them just mumbled to us what meats they were …

and the grand finale… Aly waited and waited for this to come by … and it didn’t…. so she asked the waiter TWICE…. before he finally returned with a plate of it…
Nice… we just love the pineapple… should attempt to grill some pineapples at my next BBQ ![]()
Funny… no chicken hearts and fish came by today …. I wonder why ![]()
My previous visit to Samba was when it was still at Big Splash … and the meats were alot better
Tonight’s meat cuts … well… some of them were too tough and some even too raw (I should’ve taken a pic of that one) …. and the dining experience wasn’t quite as good as before with the guys’ mumblings …
We didn’t know what the heck we were eating lol …. and the place here is alot brighter… it was alot more romantic previously lol… but I guess it’s better to be able to SEE what you’re eating since you can’t really hear or decipher what the dude’s telling you it is ![]()
I’m pretty undecided if I would return here to dine again considering how far it is from my place and the quality of the food now as compared to before ….
Hopefully it would be better the next time round if I do decide to ![]()
