Bangkok 2008 Day 03

It’s Day 03 already … how time flies …. my ankle’s beginning to give me problems already …. ouch …

You guys must be wondering how boring it is to eat the same thing every morning lol …

Well… add variety! Mix and match your own boiled rice (porridge) I added lots of minced pork and pickles to mine

But then again… its the same omelette and ham, etc. Today’s omelette was done by another lady … saltier and not as soft as done by the other lady… not nice…

Off we went to Chatuchuk weekend market! I hope Shirley’s prepared

Hmm… Didn’t get to this part of Chatuchuk last year … the shops at this end seem much newer …

It’s still early…. not so many folks around….

The stuff at this shop weren’t cheap … Aly saw a silk dress she liked alot… but it cost SGD75 So she didn’t buy it in the end as it was too expensive

There’s a train station here too… interesting …

There’s a shop selling pink gold as well…

Time for a break after much heat … look at how exhausted Shirley is

The place is like an oven!!! and we’re all pink and cooked already …. *pant* *pant*

This is my fried noodles with chicken meat…. Looks more like hor fun to me

Aly’s fried rice …. Shirley didn’t eat as she said she wasn’t hungry… she was in need of a drink more than food

My ice cold coke…. I could’ve drunk a few more cans …. Hot…sticky… thirsty… and hungry… Heck… I feel like I’m back in NS all over again

We hit the park of Chatuchuk where there are pets for sale…

The animals here all seem so sedated … Did they drug them all or something?

Alot of puppies… mostly puppies actually… all so cute

More breeds here …. so many different types! Are those toy poodles on the right?

I’m just amazed at how the puppies don’t go jumping off to freedom …

They were all yelping and playing… so adorable…

Golden Retrievers … my favourite….. If only I had a place big enough (and the $) to rear doggies back home

Besides doggies and kitties… we saw bats, squirrels (they looked really sad… seriously ) and even baby hedgehogs for sale…. Is that legal?

They didn’t allow us to take pics… which is why no sad squirrel pics… shouldn’t squirrels be free in the wild and not kept as domestic pets?

Hot and sticky… we went back to the hotel for a short break and a shower …

Here are the swan eclairs that Shirley bought last nite… She had to buy 5

We were wondering if we should check out this place opposite our hotel as it seemed to come alive at night… saw many folks eating steamboat like thingys as well

We ended up at Paragon foodcourt though … need air con after that intense heat at Chatuchuk

Aly’s meatball noodles…. it was spicy! Which is why she didn’t eat that much of it…

She also got some fried kuey teow to share….

Here’s what I got for myself… Stewed pig trotters with pig intestines and rice…
This was really good!

If only they served this up as simply as this back home ….
Back home you usually have to order the whole pig trotters and all….

Tom Yum soup…. to satisfy Shirley’s cravings

Hmm… shrimp… lemongrass… fish meat… what else?

Papaya Rice for dessert…. these crazy women say they aren’t hard up for the rice but the mango… then just order mangoes next time lah!

The 2 girls then went crazy… both indulging in butter grilled corn

Not like those you get in Singapore… just the corn bits… It’s the full thing here…

and then the bits are mixed with butter and squeezed through this funnel …

into this take away container/cup with a slurpee-like cover…

Donuts everywhere!!! Don’t people get sick of them? Speaking of which… damn… forgot to check out Mister Donut to see if they have any cool mugs to give away like last year lol
