Aly told me a few days ago that she saw that some coffeeshop at Tiong Bahru had been converted into some sort of Hong Kong Cafe when she went pass a few days back…
As we were bored and really didn’t know where to go or eat (plus the fact that we weren’t that hungry as we had a late lunch) we made our way down to try it out.
We managed to find a parking lot not too far away. Aly mentioned that there was a branch of this place at Shenton Way as well. This is a shot of the interior… lotsa orange stuff… pillars and chairs all orange…
Benches outside the eatery, I wonder why anyone would sit outside with the main road just beside it … all the fumes and dust …. eeek
amp;
2 LCD screens showing some movie and stuff…. Not too crowded, but the place did seem to have a steady stream of customers…. just the way I like it… good place to just chill with some friends ![]()
The guy came to take our orders and then he just pasted the order slip on the table… talk about weird… never seen such things before ![]()
Happy Valley Menu!!! Quite a number of things to choose from… spoilt for choice ![]()
YES…. the 2 boring fellas again … Aly’s order of Iced Peach tea and my order of Iced Yin Yang ![]()
Her iced peach tea was AWFUL … HORRENDOUS!!!
amp; TOO DARN SWEET!!! It was WORSE than drinking syrup… Aly had to get the waiter to take it back and dilute it.
My Iced Ying Yang was not too good either. The coffee taste was too strong, overpowering the tea (if there was any in it in the first place
)
I ordered … (Yes…boring me again, HAVE to try out all the Beef Brisket noodles at all the “HK Cafes” ) Beef Brisket Noodles SOUP …. As you can see from the pic, I got a bowl of dry noodles instead. I was about to dig in when I realised that my order was wrong … ![]()
Mentioned it to the guy who took my order and he said he’ll change it for me (no questions asked or if dry was good enough for me – Good service!)
Where on earth did they buy their spoons from?!! I’ve been searching high and low for such plastic spoons with a handle tip at the end … so far I’ve only managed to find non plastic ones…. ![]()
Borsch Soup!!! (which they also named as ABC soup in the menu) …
Basically consisted of carrots, onions, potato, sichaun vege and pork ribs. Aly loved the soup as she said that it tasted exactly the same as the one her mum cooks ![]()
A closer look at the ingredients in the soup ![]()
Aly orderd this HK Buttered Pork Chops and when the dish arrived, we thought it was the wrong idea. Aly had thought that the dish was some sort of baked rice set or something that came with rice.
Turned out that this dish was some the pork chops itself, so we asked the waiter for a bowl of plain rice for Aly ![]()
Taste wise, it was pretty good, interesting taste but good, especially when eaten with rice ![]()
My beef brisket soup noodles finally arrived… and it looked like all the kitchen folks did was to add soup to the dry one served to me previously
![]()
Taste wise, so so … beef was soft, but not as soft as I like it to be. I still prefer the one at HK Cafe East Coast/Novena and of ‘cos not to mention the one I had in HK ![]()
All in all, the place was not too bad I guess, alot better than the Causeway Bay Cafe at Liang Seah Street. I’ll definitely go back again to try their other stuff, or just to have drinks to chill out as it’s alot nearer to my place and Aly’s as well ![]()
