Hong Kong 2009 Day 03!!!

We brought Aud to Sing Heung Yuen for lunch

The place is packed as anticipated. We got seats in a short while though

Aly had iced milk tea

I had iced ying yang (tea + coffee + milk)
Figured I needed extra does of caffeine
Mixture was just right. Equal amounts of each and the 2 tastes did not overpower the other. One word. POWER!

Okay… the guy who does the toast is staring straight at me

Sprite and coke glass bottles…. things I miss back home…. all canned in Singapore these days

Basically… toasted bun with condensed milk
Damn sinful… but damn awesome!

Aud frowned when we told him that there’s nothing else to eat here but tomato noodles or macoroni
He ended up with Porkchop macoroni in tomato soup with an added egg

Aly and I had the same thing. Beef noodles in tomato soup with an added egg
I should learn how to do this when I go back home

Being the greedy one that I am… ordered a pork chop bun

I figured that Aud would share it with me.

Kena played out… Bugger didn’t want to eat it saying he’s full

So here I am “struggling” to finish my pork chop bun alone….
It was okay lah… managed to finish everything without too much fuss
All the better! I get to eat it all!!!

After lunch, it was back to the MRT and to Prince Edward MTR to go to Tung Choi Street (Goldfish Market) and Flower Market Road.

They have so many of these noodles shops everywhere selling beef beef beef!!!

Went through the little shops in each lane….

Crowded as usual…. After walking and going through all the shops…. we headed back to the hostel.

Aud was tired and didn’t want to join us for more shopping at Tsim Tsa Tsui… so he stayed in the hostel while we went out by ourselves

LOUSY LAH … abit of walking only cannot make it lol

We then headed to Tai Ping Koon for dinner. Watched it before on tv and also read about it on the internet.

Place is highly recommended by all… so here we are to try it out

Chilli dip

We ordered lots of food… if only Aud was around… then we could’ve ordered more …. grrrrr… quite pissed that he didn’t want to come out with us and opted to stay in the hostel…

Fly all the way here and then stay in the hostel… sigh… waste time and money

Ordered Fried Rice Noodles with Beef  (stir fried beef hor fun)
(We basically ordered everything that was recommended on the website )
This was pretty good although I found it a little oily…
The hor fun was the thin type… like the Ipoh hor fun….
Beef slices were generous….

This was pretty good to me …. It was ONE shell only though…. I thought it would be a pair or something
Oh well… there’s only Aly and me… plus we have alot of other dishes as well…

We ordered the roast pigeon. They’re famous for this dish.
I haven’t had pigeon in my life. So here I am one of the most famous places in Hong Kong for roast pigeon for my virgin bite

and the verdict???

EEEEEEECCCCKKK!!!!

Okay… I know now that I don’t like pigeon. The meat was too gamey for me…. Same went for Aly as well…

It was left to me to finish the pigeon This was the best I could do. Pigeon head was quite disturbing

The pigeon innards (liver) were cooked and dipped in this sauce separately.
I took a bite. That’s all. Just a bite. I don’t eat bird livers!!! I hate it absolutely…
Sigh… this whole pigeon thingy is just a big waste of money
Oh well… at least I know now that Aly and I don’t eat pigeon

Here’s the famous Swiss Sauce Chicken Wings….
One word. SWEET!!!
But better than the pigeon… as it’s just normal chicken wings!
That’s alot of chicken wings though…. What to do… Aud not here to help us out… oh well

Okay… simply nasty and gross… just showing you guys that I really tried not to waste any food….

Yes… it’s Tai Ping Koon’s Baked Souffle…

Good grief… we didn’t expect it to be so huge!

Here goes nothing!

Never quite understood souffles….  and as you guys can guess… we gave up on this one halfway through…
Nothing but sweet foam and after eating half of it… we both felt sick

We paid up and left…. what an experience

All in all the food wasn’t too bad.
Just that we didn’t like the taste of pigeon. I guess those who can stomach the taste would love it here
