Valentine’s Day! Restaurants everywhere were having couple sets and such …
All we wanted was a nice quick dinner with no frills…
Suggested having dinner at Sakae Teppanyaki since we’ve walked past it many times without trying…
We ordered a lobster set for 2 (have to sayang my kitty on Valentine’s Day lol
) and 2 green teas.

Some salad to start off….

Erm… condiments which I didn’t touch at all … how… miserable looking lol ![]()

Miso soup … salty… as always …

The teppanyaki chef at work … with our eel garlic fried rice…

What can you spot? There’s egg on the left… the brownish stuff is the eel … the orange stuff are some vegetables…

After frying the egg… its all mixed up…

and then added to some garlic rice and mixed again… and then stuffed into this green capsicum…

The final product… question here… do we eat the capsicum as well? ![]()

Chef at work with our squid and orders from the folks next to us as well… those bamboo clams thingy…

Our squid with black pepper…

Actually… always wondered… what’s the deal with teppanyaki… nothing but salt and lots of pepper ![]()

Chef working on our meat …. and tofu …

Bits of salt peppered beef ….

and tofu ![]()

Okay… I mentioned that we ordered a lobster set ….
So here’s the chef with our minuscule lobster… cutting it up and taking the flesh out to cook

before putting it back into the shell… duh …. ![]()
Total bill was $76.47
I was expecting to pay less for Valentine’s day today being the cheapo that I am lol ![]()
At this price… it wasn’t worthwhile since everything was in moderation… especially the lobster ![]()
What was I thinking?
I had images of big chunky lobsters when I ordered…that’s what
![]()
I suppose if you stick to the normal sets that they have… it should be okay or worth the money …
But for me… well… I had to hunt for something to have for supper ![]()
I guess today it wasn’t the food (or bill) that’s important… (or any other day - well - most anyway lol )
It was the person I was having the meal with…
Happy Valentine’s Day baby ![]()

Aly had tried the food here before with her colleagues … it’s my first time here though …
Jack’s has ventured into the seafood territory after many years dabbling in steaks…
But then again, they’ve always had seafood in their menu … so I guess it shouldn’t be that bad ![]()

Complimentary garlic bread … just like Jack’s Place ![]()

Escargots ($9)…. in garlic butter sauce …. same same… as Jack’s ![]()

Manhattan Seafood Chowder ($5.80) … Aly didn’t like it though… she found it too sour… ![]()

Aly’s Sizzling Grilled Seafood ($17.50)… scallops… prawns… fish …. the crab sticks were just so wrong though

My catfish and steak combo ($18)…. I’m eating more fish these days
Provided they don’t like look like fish ![]()
All in all…the meal was pretty okay … just like what you would get at Jack’s Place I suppose… not overly fantastic though … ![]()

Met Aly for dinner Bugis Junction…. we ate at the newly renovated food court on the 3rd level….

Had craving for Nasi Briyani!
This was yummy… but expensive though… too little rice as well… achar went well with the nasi ![]()

Aly had stewed beef kuey teow… nice but pricey too… everything here is expensive ![]()
After walking around Lavender… we headed back to Bugis for some shopping at Bugis Junction and Bugis Village….
Dinner time came pretty quickly and we were both famished ![]()

We walked past this poster/banner…. Hey! Isn’t that Roger Kwok? (Hong Kong TVB Actor)
Hmmm…. another HK Cafe thingy… Aly and I decided to try it out ![]()

The pic says it all… Wong Kok Char Chan Teng…

Here’s the entrance… there was a long queue when we went in by the way …

Here’s the menu …

Quite a number of things in the menu ….

Aly’s peach tea ($5.90)…. totally sour… so sour it tasted like sour plum… ewww….

My milk tea (shaker milk tea as on the menu) ($3.60)…. not the best I’ve had…. Aly didn’t like it

Borsch soup ($3.80) …. they got this all wrong…. TOTALLY AWFUL … it was FISHY… wtf…. it was the worst soup I’ve EVER had….

Aly’s baked rice with chicken ($10.50)…. I didn’t taste this mainly due to the nasty faces she made while eating it ![]()

Some chicken and ham roll thingy ($7.90)… with thousand island dressing ![]()

Deconstructed… there’s a piece of honeydew inside…
This roll thingy was totally salty….

My order of fried spaghetti ($6.90)… with pork cutlet slices

It wasn’t too bad… just a tad oily… and salty again ![]()

but what’s with the frozen vegetables? I thought this was a restaurant… well… so called restaurant… not food court?! Sheesh …

Aly laughing after I exclaimed to her that we should’ve ate at the restaurant opposite instead of this nightmare…

This would’ve been a much much better dining experience!
All in all… one word sums up this place…. CRAP
Service was bad…. staff didn’t know much about the menu… didn’t understand what we wanted…
Food took forever to arrive and when it did, we wished it didn’t… ‘cos of the crappy food…
The table next to ours had raised eyebrows as well when they tasted their food … you guys should’ve seen their faces when they tasted the same soup… the 2 guys caught Aly and I sniggering at them take their first spoonful of soup when which they both made nasty faces upon first taste…. they then noticed that we had abandoned our soup and realised why so and gave us a look of acknowledgment coupled with a good laugh ![]()
Man… Roger Kwok sure endorsed the wrong place …. I would never step foot in here again.
We both went down to the basement to grab some buns and stuff to bring back up to the hotel after the awful dinner… ![]()
