Was walking around Chinatown with Aly when we came across this stand along Trengganu Street selling sausages

Aly and I shared this …. nice big one … with lots of chilli sauce and mustard

The bread was really soft and I loved the chewy skin of the sausage

The stand has got lots of newspaper cutouts … and the boss is one interesting character …
Don’t be mistaken as he’s not as fierce as he looks … rather friendly in fact

National Day!!! All the crazy buggers flocked to Marina/ECP area to watch fireworks…

What’s the deal about fireworks? Haven’t these fellas seen them before?

TKL said it was romantic to watch with your loved one…. Er….

Thank goodness Aly doesn’t see things the same as him but the same as me

So while everyone was stuck in the jams (Pat, how was it like caught in the jam? ) and fighting with the rest to get a nice place to see the fireworks , Aly and I were walking around Chinatown and doing some shopping, bought some oolong tea leaves and some Hong Kong Shrimp noodles….

Time to eat dinner, check this out! It’s called LOH MEI, decided to give it a try since I haven’t tasted or seen anything like this before and the ingredients looked pretty tempting to me

It basically consists of the mid joint of the chicken wing, cuttlefish, kang kong, pig skin, pig intestines, pig stomach, tau pok and kong bah …. sounds good?

All these ingredients are served in this soupy base with this thing we cantonese call “Fu Yu” which is basically fermented bean curd if I’m not wrong.

Anyway it tasted pretty good!!! Something new as well….

Mao Rating:

When I went back, I told my mum about this dish and she said I was suaku!!! She’s been eating this stuff for years! She then told me that the one at the hawker at Smith Street (on top of the wet market) tasted lots better and wasn’t so bland…. Wah… must go try out one day

As for Aly, well, she had the famous yong tau foo there for dinner, but not as interesting as mine ya?

Oh … not forgetting … HAPPY NATIONAL DAY <

Brought mum and dad to dinner at Spring Court at Chinatown with Aly….
We just settled for the set dinner for 4 as we didn’t want to think too much…

Peking Duck!!! Crispy skin with sweet sauce …. yum yum…

???? Deep Fried Fish Fillet with Sweet & Sour Sauce

????? Traditional Style Pan Fried Tiger Prawns (such alot… only 4pcs!!! 1 prawn for each of us… geez!!!

All in all, I think the food was okay only, if not for the Peking duck, I don’t think I’ll go back anymore … The bill came up to about $128 which also included the rice and the soup of the day … I think I still prefer the food at Soup restaurant …

Aly and I were at OG Chinatown… heh… and we headed to the cafe inside to have some kong ba bao… couldn’t resist taking a pic when I saw the giant bao… hee hee…
