Headed there with Aly and her sis Samantha for dinner after that round of clothes shopping at Chinatown

Sam had the Gold Medal Macau Baked Rice ($14.80) which is actually pork chop with tomato sauce, Chicken chop with portuguese sauce and seafood with cream sauce all in one plate … I didn’t take a pic of it as Aly had eaten this before and I did blog about it previously…. er… I think … (do a search? )

Sze chuan fried spicy french beans ($8.50)
I’ve always wanted to try this after seeing others order it countless times, but was afraid to do so ‘cos of the word “spicy” … fearing that I would have to finish it alone if it’s too spicy for Aly.
Since Sam’s here today, I took the chance to do so.
The dish WAS spicy… but it was also appetising and darn good in my opinion… even Aly ate lots of it… and drank lots of water

The soup was pretty tasty… don’t worry… you won’t get drunk ….
Didn’t eat or taste much of it though… ‘cos I was more interested in….

Abalone sauce spicy pork leg noodles ($8.50)
Couldn’t resist ordering this when I read PORK LEG
The port was soft … yeah!!! …. I hate eating pork leg when it’s tough
The sauce was delicious! Mixed with the noodles, it was awesome!!!
Portion was too small  though!!! I was tempted to order another plate

After eating at so many hong kong cafes, Aly and I still prefer the ones by C.Nai
Lots of items in their menu, the milk tea is good … and the food is good as well.
The only gripe I have is that the service can be quite lacking at times

Looks like they got more cushioned seats as well as a brand new menu!

Finally!!! What Aly and I have been saying the place was missing all this while… Any hk eatery would be incomplete without this! Beef brisket noodles and wanton noodles!!!

Here’s my reply to her facial expression…

Aly’s egg and luncheon meat toast…. we thought it was the wrong order as it seemed more like a sandwich to us … but after a check with the waitress, we realised that it was indeed an egg and luncheon meat toast… the sandwich would be the exact same thing minus the bread being toasted…
Did I also mention that the toasted bread costs an additional 50cents?

Pretty good I must say, but no where close to the ones we tried in Hong Kong… but much better than many other places in Singapore though…

Met Tong & Kelly at Hong Kong Cafe for dinner before proceeding home …

Parking wasn’t so good this time round unlike the previous times when I could get a lot easily… Had to park quite far away this time….

Tong & Kelly had Honey lemon drink and Iced lemon tea while Aly and I had Iced lemon tea and I tried their Lemon Ribena …

Finally did it! Ordered instant noodles… heh…

My HK Cafe Instant noodle dry … with a slice of luncheon meat, pork chop some veggie and a sunny side up egg! Came with a tiny bowl of soup as well.. hee hee…

Tong & Kelly ordered a mango pudding for dessert

I ordered french toast with kaya after that… but I forgot to take a pic…

Aly had Almond Cream Glutinous Rice Mix for dessert… Yin Yang!!!

Aly and I decided to go to Hong Kong Cafe (again!) for supper after the Beyond concert as we were quite hungry…

Got there and managed to find a parking lot (Yippy!)

We had to wait a short while for seats … we opted to sit inside (air con!)

We where shown to our seats … and we looked at the menu to see what to order…

Our table was empty except for the 2 menus… we had to take the paper slip from the next table to write down our orders… and I had to use my own pen as there wasn’t a pen or pencil for us or the next table.

Aly ordered the Portuguese Baked Chicken with rice and I ordered Deep Fried Pork with rice and also 2 orders of Ice lemon tea and 1 order of lemon coke (was really thirsty!)

Our orders came after a short wait, but our drinks didn’t arrive. We had to chase them 4-5 times and by the time they arrived, Aly and I had finished our rice. Geez…
I seriously wonder how difficult it is to just pour out some ice and bring me a can of coke. The table next to ours, well, they came much later than us and ordered much later than us, but they got their drinks much earlier.

The food at the place is not too bad, prices are pretty reasonable too, but the 3 times we were here, we noticed the really bad service

My Deep fried pork rice… I was expecting Char Siew rice, but it wasn’t! Turned out to be…er…really fried pork rice on the side, and some salty and sweetish minced pork on the other, with some slices of cucumber and a sunny side up egg!

We left the place with our tummies stuffed, and we would definitely go back for more… but… the service…. I hope they seriously do something about it.

Aly was hungry so we had a bite at Hong Kong Cafe after picking Aly up from work after having dinner with Vivian and Geoffrey

Ordered Chef’s Fried rice and a Borsch soup to try. We always see on TVB the folks ordering this soup at restaurants, so we decided to have a go as well.

When the fried rice arrived, we were pretty stunned as it looked nothing like the picture in the menu. The rice was blackish and not like the white rice in photo!

It didn’t taste too bad. The soup was interesting, tasted something like tomato soup actually. Too many carrots for Aly though LOL

I had yin yang drink while Aly had her usual iced lemon tea.
