Had dinner with Aly at Food Junction at Century Square.
Aly had the chicken noodles… not too bad…

I got the cold noodles… the texture of the noodles were chewy… and I really mean chewy….
By the end of the meal my jaws were numb
But it was good! Nice chewy springy texture
Bad thing? It was VERY spicy… midway through the meal, I had to start to pick out the chilli seeds as it was too hot to handle…
Another bad thing… it was too sour… first few bites were okay… but I couldn’t bring myself to finish the dish in the end as the more I ate… the more I couldn’t stomach the sourness

Aly has been frequenting this place without me!!! She’s been here another 2 times with her colleagues already

We brought Fai and Kelly down today for my second visit to the place

Side dishes today consisted of cockles! Aly was the only one eating them… Kelly didn’t touch them … hmm…

Asparagus …. hmm… just wondering why the side dishes weren’t the same as those I had the last time I was here….
There were similar stuff though… the kimchi and eggplant was also served….
Is this done on purpose so that patrons wouldn’t get bored?
Or the boss just bought whatever ingredients was cheap on that particular day?

Seafood Pancake … Fai said this was good….
I felt that it tasted like carrot cake with seafood

Kelly ordered a whole Ginseng chicken for us to share…

You can order half though…. no worries lol

So nice of Kelly to help scoop out the ginseng chicken and soup for us…

Since I’ve tried the Beef and Octopus steamboat previously, we ordered the Budae Steamboat for 3 today

It came with noodles … you can also order plain rice to go with it or add more noodles at additional cost

Budae Steamboat…. consists of tofu, mushrooms, vegetables, sausages and luncheon meat.
Don’t ask me what kind of luncheon meat was served… and where too lol

Aly started going crazy again mixing lots of rice with lots of soup…. I think I’ll go broke if I brought her to Seoul

She told me that her colleagues preferred this to the beef and octopus steamboat…

I personally prefer the beef and octopus steamboat , the soup was much sweeter and tasty.

This Budae one was salty probably due to the luncheon meat and sausages.

Just preference I guess… just as well that we had luncheon meat ‘cos Fai was with us lol

Just what is with you and luncheon meat? (He’s the only person I know so far who has luncheon meat in his steamboat)

Another place that has been around for years and we’ve never patronised it before…
Read some positive reviews on the place a few weeks back, so decided to give it a try today

We walked past Kuishin Bo… which was packed with a long queue as usual and headed to Shillawon… place was kinda packed as well, but we were lucky as there was a last empty table for us thankfully

The waitress asked if we would like to have the buffet or not… we told her that it was our first time there… so she explained to us what was in the buffet… Aly turned to look at me… I just said “buffet!”

I was hungry! Anything would do! I just need food FAST

The buffet consisted of cooked food that we could take that was placed inside of the restaurant at the entrance and everything else from the menu. We had to order what we wanted ala carte style

While flipping through the menu, I noticed that some of the items were stated to be only available on weekends…

Hmmm…. lucky for us it WAS a weekend

Rice cakes from the counter … Aly claimed it was really good …. as compared to the expensive and lousy ones at Dong Dae Mun (Bugis Junction/VivoCity)

It was my first time having rice cakes… so I couldn’t compare or comment

More stuff you could pick yourself … sashimi and tempura

Onion pancake which we ordered … not bad I was surprised that Aly ate this as it contained lots of spring onions

Ordered some prawns… one of the things you can only get on weekends …

Some marinated beef …. bulgogi….

Spicy squid and non spicy squid

Marinated chicken wings… only on weekends….

I loved this one best … (Bossam) boiled pork belly for you to wrap with lettuce and pickled vegetables/kimchi, cut green chilli, garlic and hot bean sauce. This dish is so simple… yet so lovely… especially with the garlic … the tastes just explodes in your mouth! (Think a whole lot of wasabi exploding in your mouth )

Blogging about it now is making me have cravings for it
You can get additional lettuce from the counter inside the restaurant.

Aly ordered seafood soup…. brave… I’m just trying to stay away from these seafood stuff after that fiasco with Mario Kitchen

Now this is what I’m talking about … BBQ!

Food’s just about done… Makan time!

I was afraid to order this at first ‘cos had already waved the white flag….
But I wanted to try this…. thankfully after seeing Aly’s soup, I saw that the portion wasn’t too big… Good 1 person I suppose…. This is spicy soup with kimchi, pork belly and tofu

No regrets about ordering this … lovely soup… pork belly slices were not as big and thick like those that were served with the lettuce…. I had some leftover from that plate and threw them in the soup…. shiok

By the time I was done… erm…. Only kitty was left!
Everybody else had finished their meals… even those who came after us
You can imagine how much I ate :”>
