Aly dragged me to try out this place at Liang Seah Street….

Usual side dishes…

Eggy was yummy

Potatoes….

Aly didn’t touch this one It was okay for me as I’ve learnt to eat it

Kimchi! So-so

Soy sprouts… big heads!

We ordered a set menu for 2 ($49)… this was what we got …. beef bits …

and pork bits lol

Table was a little cramp though…

Didn’t have much room for all the dishes…

The drink was good though Aly didn’t like it though as she found the ginseng too strong for her liking

Wtf!!! We’re charged for the veggies?

Soup! Nothing much …. bits of meat… can you see it?

That’s about it …. Small table filled with so many bits and pieces…

and some slices of fruits for dessert.

To sum it all… it wasn’t too bad … total bill was $70.15 after all the plus plus stuff ….
Still prefer Shillawoon at Suntec though

Mario Kitchen…. what’s a Korean restaurant doing with a name like Mario?

It makes me think of the plumber in red and blue (Nintendo icon Super Mario) and Mario is italian …weird…

Thankfully I think we will never see Luigi (Mario’s brother – the one with the green overalls lol ) Japanese restaurant or something mainly ‘cos Luigi can be mistaken for “LUGI” … no local restaurant will want to lose money

Finally got here when it’s open… When the cat wants korean… you feed her korean.

Not alot of stuff in the menu eh? Steamboat… bbq… etc….

Thought that’s the norm with all korean restaurants?

So much for service… where’s the waitress?

Golly… our free side dishes are exactly the same as the ones in the banner
Kimchi… sucked… tasted like detergent
Anchovies… I don’t eat them … so can’t comment
Long beans… weird… crunchy though….

We ordered a combo set… beef bbq and seafood steamboat …

Aly didn’t like the beef bbq thought… she said it had a weird taste… plus she was disappointed that it was like more of a dish rather than actual bbq … this I couldn’t argue with her …
I guess I would’ve had more fun cooking the beef over a bbq…. why call it bbq when it’s not?

Next to arrive was the seafood steamboat… Will the bowl be able to fit all that?

Aly still smiling despite her not liking the beef…. hmm…

Seafood steamboat… VERY bad choice…. will not let Aly make such decisions in the future

What’s inside? Prawns… squid … clams… 2 mussels … and erm… one fish head …

Yes… one fish head…. eeeeks!!!!

First of all… it looked revolting…. secondly… it made the entire dish inedible due to it making the whole soup super fishy both in taste and smell

Bad…really bad… it was so bad… we abandoned the meal, paid up and left …

You guys know me… I hate wasting food and don’t do so if I can help it… I couldn’t help it today

It made the steamboat at Ting Yuan the other day seemed good…

I’m not sure about the other dishes they offer… but our choices were all wrong … sigh…

I’m afraid to come back to try the other stuff after this experience I must say …..

Lucky the beef was at least edible to me … which lifted it’s food rating from 1/2 to 1

Oh… and Aly wasn’t smiling anymore when we left … even the kitty couldn’t stomach the fishy steamboat ……

Dinner was really bad…. so the 4 of us headed over to the dessert shop further down…

Just as well we’ve never ate at this one before except Aly who said it was not bad…

Aly and I were walking around Bugis Junction and Icon, we then proceeded to Lai Lai Taiwan Beef Noodles (Liang Seah Street) for a late lunch, but we stumbled upon this place on the way there (32 Liang Seah Street) just a few outlets away from Lai Lai), hence we decided to try it out.

The menu… quite abit of items…

The walls were papered with pics of Hong Kong Causeway Bay

Aly’s Ice Lemon Tea… didn’t really taste that great sad to say… but the glass was pretty interesting…

My order of “Yin Yang” or Si-Mud tea+coffee … The coffee taste was too strong, couldn’t really taste much of the tea… not great once again

Thumbs up for the cool glass/container +1 for presentation?

Aly’s order of Baked rice with chicken chop, pretty tasteless, and too soggy, tasted very powdery, think it could be ‘cos of the cheese they used.

I’m at a HK cafe, I HAVE to try their Beef Brisket soup noodles…
Verdict? Simply awful… 3 small miserable pieces of beef which tasted exactly like the canned Ma Ling Stewed Pork that many folks like to cook with bee hoon …

HK Kai Lan with mushroom, we found this to be too salty to our liking…

Total bill was $24.50, not value for money if you ask me…
Geez… can anybody even come close to HK Cafe at East Coast?

Lai Lai Family Restaurant… Love this place … it’s amazing I haven’t written about this joint till now…

It’s actually an eatery located at Liang Seah Street that dishes out taiwan beef noodles and other taiwan goodies… it’s owned and run by this pretty taiwanese woman

I took this as my side order, some sweet and sour squid thingy… first time I’ve tried this here and I thought it tasted pretty good…

Pig’s large intestines! When I saw this on the menu, I had to try it even though we already ordered so much food such that the waitress asked us if we were there for the first time LOL
I found this to be a little too oily though…

Aly wanted this… kai lan with oyster sauce… Good!

My red bubble tea… beside the lovely fried shallots in chilli oil… goes great with the beef noodles!
