We brought Aud to Sing Heung Yuen for lunch

The place is packed as anticipated. We got seats in a short while though

I had iced ying yang (tea + coffee + milk)
Figured I needed extra does of caffeine
Mixture was just right. Equal amounts of each and the 2 tastes did not overpower the other. One word. POWER!

He ended up with Porkchop macoroni in tomato soup with an added egg

Being the greedy one that I am… ordered a pork chop bun

I figured that Aud would share it with me.

Kena played out… Bugger didn’t want to eat it saying he’s full

So here I am “struggling” to finish my pork chop bun alone….
It was okay lah… managed to finish everything without too much fuss
All the better! I get to eat it all!!!

After lunch, it was back to the MRT and to Prince Edward MTR to go to Tung Choi Street (Goldfish Market) and Flower Market Road.

Crowded as usual…. After walking and going through all the shops…. we headed back to the hostel.

Aud was tired and didn’t want to join us for more shopping at Tsim Tsa Tsui… so he stayed in the hostel while we went out by ourselves

We then headed to Tai Ping Koon for dinner. Watched it before on tv and also read about it on the internet.

Place is highly recommended by all… so here we are to try it out

We ordered lots of food… if only Aud was around… then we could’ve ordered more …. grrrrr… quite pissed that he didn’t want to come out with us and opted to stay in the hostel…

Fly all the way here and then stay in the hostel… sigh… waste time and money

Ordered Fried Rice Noodles with Beef  (stir fried beef hor fun)
(We basically ordered everything that was recommended on the website )
This was pretty good although I found it a little oily…
The hor fun was the thin type… like the Ipoh hor fun….
Beef slices were generous….

This was pretty good to me …. It was ONE shell only though…. I thought it would be a pair or something
Oh well… there’s only Aly and me… plus we have alot of other dishes as well…

We ordered the roast pigeon. They’re famous for this dish.
I haven’t had pigeon in my life. So here I am one of the most famous places in Hong Kong for roast pigeon for my virgin bite

and the verdict???

EEEEEEECCCCKKK!!!!

Okay… I know now that I don’t like pigeon. The meat was too gamey for me…. Same went for Aly as well…

It was left to me to finish the pigeon This was the best I could do. Pigeon head was quite disturbing

The pigeon innards (liver) were cooked and dipped in this sauce separately.
I took a bite. That’s all. Just a bite. I don’t eat bird livers!!! I hate it absolutely…
Sigh… this whole pigeon thingy is just a big waste of money
Oh well… at least I know now that Aly and I don’t eat pigeon

We woke kinda early (or just in time for lunch) to head back to Gough Street to get my fix of cow noodles… at Kau Kee (九記牛腩)

Jialat lah… I didn’t even attempt to read….

Damn… just realised I didn’t take pics of the place….

We sat upstairs… the place was air conditioned…
But space was really cramp….
Just imagine 7 people sharing a really small table

Yes… small table… smaller than your round hawker table back home….

Think people in Singapore are too pampered… I always wonder why a couple must occupy a 4 seater in restaurants back home

Plus another thing to add… Realised that the people at my table… when they were done, they left immediately freeing up seats for others ….

Something you don’t see in Singapore with idiots hogging the tables

People say Hong Kong is a terrible place, full of rude people …. I disagree
I say Singapore is worse in terms of social graciousness
Singaporeans DESERVE to be scolded if they go around with their attitude in Hong Kong (and other countries) and I guess that’s what happened to those who cry back home to say Hong Kong people are rude …

Spring onions!!!  Yummy! Poor Aly had to transfer hers to mine

Aly found it too fatty…. she preferred the one we had at Causeway Bay 2 yrs ago….

The noodles here are like our mee pok …. they have hor fun too

I think I would’ve preferred thin noodles to this mee pok
But overall I enjoyed it… especially the meat!

Curry beef tendons and brisket….

Was just wondering why the tendons only come in curry ….

Anyway, the meat was good ….tendons were really soft … melts in your mouth…

The curry was a little spicy and too oily though
Total for 2 beef brisket noodles, 2 iced lemon teas and 1 curry tendon+brisket was HKD122

After some cows… we went opposite to Sing Heung Yuen (勝香園) as Aly wanted to eat the Nai You Cui Cui (奶油脆脆) again

This was also really yummy… and I didn’t even eat it on the spot… I had it for supper much later on back at the hotel …. after so many hours…. still yummy

This toasted bread belonged to a lady seated at the same table ….
She saw us taking pics and all and asked if we would like to take a photo of her buns… oops… her bread as well…. she said it was really good too

She spoke really good English as well

Braved the rain which was getting heavier and ended up at this japanese restaurant just opposite Ashley Apartments

Day 03!!!! Woke up early again as we planned to have brunch at Kau Kee.

Read up about this place online before the trip and read many rave reviews on it including some really good photos of the food.

We found our way there only to realise that it still wasn’t opened yet… it was noon…

Darn it….

Aly didn’t want to wait for Kau Kee to open, so we just headed opposite where the famous Sing Heung Yuen 勝香園 dai pai dong was
Another place I had to try out…. another place where TVB has filmed many serials at

Maybe you’ve seen it really recently on the TVB serial 甜言蜜語 Speech of Silence where Kate Tsui’s father owns this dai pai dong

As always… must try their milk tea or yuan yang (milk tea + milk coffee) !!!
Aly’s iced lemon tea was good just like the rest we’ve had so far …my iced milk tea was darn good too… not overly sweet and tea and milk ratio was just right not overpowering each other

After all… it’s DRAGON Centre…. my place leh … for dragons …

Hmm…. Even Yoshinoya does deliveries… and that looks like just for 1 person …. cool…
They should do deliveries in Singapore also… as in … not just Yoshinoya….
I find Hong Kong so cool ‘cos so many eateries do deliveries…. it’s so convenient!!!

It was back to the hotel for a rest as Aly’s legs were getting sore and she was feeling tired…

We then took the MTR to Tung Chung to check out the outlet shops at CityGate Mall…

Did some furious shopping there…. bought a bag from Quicksilver Outlet shop… some clothes from the Puma Outlet store and also from the Ralph Lauren Outlet Store…

I was quite amazed ‘cos I didn’t get anything from the Nike and Adidas outlet stores

We then took the long journey back to the hotel for a quick rest and to dump our shopping bags before heading out to Tsui Wah nearby to fill our tummies before tucking in….
